Only the calls you want get through.

CallGuard automatically rejects unwanted calls — from unknown numbers, from your block list, or everyone except a few chosen people. It can text the caller right away so they know how to reach you.

Android 10 and newer · 18 languages · no ads

Four modes, one tap

Switch modes on the home screen. On top of any mode you can block hidden numbers and keep your own block list.

Block unknown numbers

Only people saved in your contacts get through. Telemarketing and scam calls end before they ring.

Rings: contacts, allowed numbers · Rejected: everything else

Allowed numbers only

On holiday, in a meeting or over the weekend: only family and a few chosen numbers can reach you. Nobody else.

Rings: allowed list · Rejected: everything else

Block everything

Complete silence. Every incoming call is rejected and written to the history.

Rejected: every call

Off

Your phone rings as usual. The block list can stay active in this mode too.

Rings: everything except the block list

What else it does

Nothing superfluous. Just what you actually need for blocking calls.

Automatic SMS

The rejected caller receives your message, for example "I'm in a meeting, please text me." You write the text. At most one SMS per number per hour, so your credit stays safe.

Blocking history

For every rejected call you see the number or name, the time, why it was blocked and whether an SMS was sent. Clear the history with one tap.

Block list and allowed list

Add numbers from your contacts or type them in. The block list is always blocked; the allowed list takes priority when blocking unknown numbers.

Set up in a minute

CallGuard uses Android's official call-screening interface. No root, no special settings.

  1. Install the app from Google PlayWorks on phones with Android 10 or newer.
  2. Tap "Enable call screening"Android asks which app should screen your calls. Choose CallGuard.
  3. Grant permissionsContacts (to know who you know), SMS (only if you want automatic replies) and notifications.
  4. Choose a modeDone. Unwanted calls are rejected automatically, even when the app is closed.

Your contacts stay on your phone

CallGuard has no internet access. That is not a promise in a contract but a technical limit of the app: it does not have the permission to connect to the network.

What this means in practice
  • Contacts, lists and blocking history are stored only in the phone's memory.
  • No accounts, no sign-up, no server.
  • No ads, analytics or tracking tools.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data.

FAQ

Does the caller hear an announcement?

No. Android does not let apps play audio into a call. The caller sees a rejected call and, if automatic SMS is on, immediately receives your message.

How much does the automatic SMS cost?

The SMS is sent from your SIM card, so it is charged according to your plan. The feature is off by default and sends at most one SMS per number per hour.

Will blocked calls appear in my call log?

Yes. Rejected calls stay in the system call log, and CallGuard also records them in its own history together with the reason.

Does it work alongside another call-blocking app?

Android allows only one app at a time to screen calls. When you enable CallGuard, it takes over that role from the previous app.

What if someone important calls and they are not in my contacts?

You will see the call in the history and in the call log, so you can call back. Add numbers that must always get through to the allowed list.
